Game Day Snacks

Watching football gives us an excuse to splurge. It’s got to be finger foods, all the way, with paper plates so there’s no clean up.

For a really big game, I like to break out the shrimp. Already cooked and mostly peeled, nothing is better. There always has to be the old stand by of chips and dip. Tortilla chips and salsa are always good.

For something with substance, a good calzone hits the spot. It’s a lot less messy than pizza, with none of that annoying tomato sauce. Pepperoni with mozzarella is my personal favorite.

For a special treat, try mini hot dogs wrapped in bacon. Nothing says good like 1 smoked meat wrapped in another smoked meat. What I do is wrap them a 2 or 3 days ahead and put them in a zipper bag with brown sugar and refridgerate. On game day, pop them in the oven until the bacon is cooked. Heaven on a toothpick.

Remember, on game day, keep it simple, easy and have no clean up. It almost doesn’t matter who wins the game. Well, yes it does.
