Another Firing in the NFL
And once again it was not Lane Kiffin on the hot seat. This time it was Scott Linehan out as head coach of the St. Louis Rams.
The Rams started out 0-4 this season. They have been out scored 147-43 in those four games. None of the games were even close.
Linehan tried to shake things up this week, knowing he was on the block. He benched starting QB Marc Bulger and started Trent Green instead. That benching also created a divide in the locker room.
The last coach to be fired after week 4 happened in 1989. The Raiders did the firing and the coach was Mike Shanahan. I think he has done OK for himself since then.
The Rams head into the bye week this week giving interim head coach, Jim Haslett 2 weeks to get his team ready for the next game. Haslett has head coaching experience with the New Orleans Saints. He took the Saints to the playoffs.
I guess we’ll see what happens in St. Louis in 2 weeks. Hopefully there won’t be any more firings.
