Getting Into the Pro Football Hall of Fame

Published by kelley77 at 9:22 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

There is such a lenghty procedure to get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It’s surprising anyone gets in at all.

Today, the preliminary list was released. It contained the names of 110 former players, 7 coaches and 16 contributors (this year’s contributors consists of many long time team owners plus others). There are also 2 senior nominees that will be on the final ballot.

Later this month, that list will be reduced to 25 names. Then the 25 names will be reduced to 15 finalists (plus the 2 seniors for a total of 17).

The Selection Committee will meet and vote on the day before the Super Bowl. There is no set number but there are usually between 4 and 7 inductees.

Then those inductees will be inshrined in August before the Hall of Fame Game. Whew, makes my head spin just thinking about it.
